The Woodside Synagogue was originally the Thompson house built in “William L.F. King’s subdivision, which was platted in December 1891. The Thompson house, which dates to about 1895, was the only house ever built in the subdivision. Crosby S. Noyes, owner and publisher of the Evening Star newspaper eventually bought all the lots and added them to his adjoining “Alton Farm.” After his death, the farm was sold in 1922 to the Woodside Development Corporation, which platted it as the Woodside Park subdivision. Charles W. Hopkins, the President of the Woodside Development Corporation moved into the Thompson house. He and later his widow lived there until their deaths. The Woodside Synagogue purchased the property from the Hopkins heirs in 1977 and later put an addition on to the original house.
