Criss Cross

I believe this piece is called Criss Cross apart from that I have not been able to find any other information.

That used be on the sidewalk between City Place and the old garage at Ellsworth and Fenton (now where Chik-fil-a is located). It has to be one of the worst pieces of public art I’ve ever seen — the sculpture looks like a post-apocalyptic jungle-gym. We always used to call it “Silver Spring on Fire.” So it fit right in with the blighted urban landscape of the area in the 90s, but I was glad to see it move.

not “one of the worst” - it’s officially the ugliest piece of public art ever in the history of ugly public art. my husband and i call it “probot” after the propane tank “art” that peggy hill created on “king of the hill.”

This sculpture is by Albert Pauley who is a very highly respected sculpture, but this is definitely not one of his best works.

Some of the pic you take seem to hint that Silver Spring (MD) is quite a miserable place (sorry). Do love your pictures of nature though. Are there many places in Silver Spring that requires redevelopment?
