I spotted this guy in a local park the other day, not sure what he was waiting for. I took a couple of pictures and left him to go about his business.

I am betting the squirrel has detected a favorite wood in that mulch and is smelling it to see where the nuts to the wood is. My guess. Nice photo.

This was during a brutal heat wave and drought. He was COOLING Off - this is what squirrels do - put their tummies on cool earth. Try it - you may like it. I have a similar pic on my blog around the same timing - they constantly are cooling off under my oak trees - http://washingtongardener.blogspot.com/.
