Shopping
I believe many years ago Cherry Hill Shopping Center and the surrounding area used to be orchards. Now it is a mix of shops, houses and business complexes.

Orchard Center (as the shopping center is officially called, though no one uses it) and the surrounding West*Farm Technology Park are named for the University of Maryland Experimental Farm that once used to inhabit the site. This was until the 1980’s. It’s surprising how rural East County was until very recently.
