Coastline

This art piece is situated outside the NOAA building. It is made of granite and has a computer controlled wave generator. The wave generator is connected to a monitor on the coast of Massachusetts which transmits the wave heights over the internet to Silver Spring for a real time wave simulation. The waves vary in height from 6-24 inches.

I am stunned!
Who would have thought of this should be on the cover of Time. It is very interesting and opens up a whole range of ideas for new art themes. I bet the sound is wonderful.
