My parents lived in the Spring Garden Apartments in the late 1940s. We have a family photo which seems to show the building; the caption written on the photo says “Eastern Avenue 1946″. This calls into question the date of construction given in the photo above.
These apartments were not new when my parents moved in. Family tradition says the apartments were used for Russian Embassy staff before they were opened to the public.
All of this suggests a construction date well before 1949.
